Welcome to Minis of Manawatu. The club was formed in the mid 90's, initially as an extension of Mini's of Wellington Owners Group or MOWOG for short. As local interest grew it became obvious to those of us based in the Manawatu region, some 160km from Wellington that it would make sense to form our own club and stand alone. Membership generally is around the 50-70 members, which usually means that at anytime there are up to 200 hundred Mini's in the club. To own two or even three is no more work that having just the one. Besides which, as we all know, the Mini is a highly social animal and enjoys the company of other like minded folk. We are affiliated to Motorsport New Zealand through our association with The Manawatu Car Club who own Manfeild Race Track. This makes it possible for us run motoring events with confidence and the full support of not only a Nationally but also Internationally recognised governing body. Such support is invaluable to us because it not only gives us access to the various liability insurance's, but also to the Knowledge and Expertise of the team and the excellent training course they run, and through them every other associate club in New Zealand. Since forming Members of Mini's Manawatu have been instrumental in setting up the New Zealand Mini Nationals, along with the other Mini clubs of New Zealand. Currently there are clubs in just about every region of New Zealand. Two clubs in the Auckland region, catering to the Mini in general with the Auckland Mini Club, and Coopers specifically with the New Zealand Mini Cooper Club. In Hamilton there is the Hamilton Cooper Enthusiasts Club, at one time the was the Rotorua Mini Club but they seem to have disappeared in recent times. Then you find us in the lower central north Island, with Hawkes Bay Mini Club in on the East Coast and several members of our club in the Taranaki region. In the Capital City, and gateway to the South Island we have Mini's of Wellington Owners Group. I believe there is a new club forming in the top of the South Island based in Nelson, then down to the central South Island with the Christchurch Mini Club and then in the deep south the Otago Club. Additional to the local clubs there is the National Mini Racing Association they have a web site that you can visit to catch up on results and the gossip for both the North Island and South Island calendars Contact & Joining Information
